And you are so right. Even though I've never been to NYC--only as far east as Cleveland--the image of those landmarks standing will always be in my mind. Still a marvel, even when seen in movies or TV shows.
That really is deep and powerful, and the simplicity gives it a nice serene feel. Nice use of the reflection in the water-- it makes for a good metaphor of the reflections we make in our own life.
I can actually still remember where I was on 9/11-- I was on the bus and heard on the radio that someone had crashed a plane into the Twin Towers. Amazing how one can still recall where they were and what they were doing on that fateful day.
I was on my way to work when I got the call from my folks. It was a couple of hours after everything started, and they told me the towers were gone.
Now, I hate waking up and seeing the news on TV, but I just had to see this for myself. First thing I saw was the second plane. I was in a state all day...and I was in the Seattle area at the time!
I had to get across a crosswalk on the way to work when I noticed a small flag left in the street. I went, picked it up and put it somewhere safe indoors.
But I really didn't feel the full effect until after dinner that night. There, I just broke down.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

And that's pretty much my story.
